Musiah Review: An Engaging Alternative to Expensive Piano Lessons
Can a story-driven piano app work for adults? Paul from Buckinghamshire initially worried Musiah was just for kids. In this review, he explains how the engaging optional 'Quest' and interactive games actually made learning notation easier and provided a flexible, affordable alternative to formal piano lessons.
Why Engagement is the Key to Piano Progress
Before I started learning with Musiah, I initially thought the program might be aimed at children. However, I discovered that Musiah offers a dedicated piano lessons for adults mode for a more streamlined, professional experience.
Interestingly, I found that the animation and storyline in the optional 'Quest' mode really helped to keep me engaged, which ultimately made my learning more enjoyable.
Mastering Notation with Interactive Music Games
I also particularly like the interactive note reading games. I find that they really help with learning to read notation which is something I have always struggled with.
The Benefits of MIDI Keyboard Piano Lessons
Some of the other benefits of Musiah — the only piano lessons app with a true AI teacher that appeal to me are;
- Being able to practice when it suits me
- Being able to go into the practice area and work on pieces
- Having the pressure of the performance challenge really helps to focus on getting the pieces right
- I also like that you can use a midi keyboard to take this course as I do not own a real piano.
I would definitely recommend Musiah. I think it is a great alternative to formal piano lessons which can be expensive, and the engaging story helps make the learning more enjoyable.
Many thanks, Musiah.
